Argentine playmaker Nicolas Gaitan is set to join Manchester United, hopefully next summer. He currently plays for Portuguese side Benfica and has even admitted to willingly join the Red Devils.
Gaitan's signing is not official yet but the deal looks almost done. The only problem to sign him is the €45 million release clause that is written into his contract, which United have refused to meet. Though they are willing to pay €35m to Benfica for availing the services of the 23 year old attacking midfielder.
Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly said that he has always been a great fan of Gaitan, and describes him as the one who will re-ignite the Manchester United attack, after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez.
Interestingly, Gaitan's agent happens to be Jorge Mendes who has delivered Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson, David de Gea and Bebe to Old Trafford in the past eight years. He is highly respected at Old Trafford and he is a major driver of Manchester United's transfer business.
If everything goes well between United and Benfica, Nicolas Gaitan should be a United player next June.
