Manchester United have appointed a full-time counter-terrorism manager, believed to be the first in the United Kingdom.

A former inspector from Greater Manchester Police's specialist search unit has been appointed full-time. The security at Old Trafford is under increased scrutiny since last few months, especially after a fake bomb was found in a toilet in May and two supporters were found to be hiding to watch Red Devils play against Arsenal.

Several fans have complained about the time it takes for searches at turnstiles and thus more security supervisors have been appointed.

It surely is a great move by Manchester United and emphasizes its commitment to ensure safety of its players and the fans during matchdays.
