Manchester United produced another display of naive and uncertain defending as they threw away a simple victory against Everton to allow them to leave Old Trafford with a point.

With Manchester City winning their game against Wolves, they are just 3 points behind us and this makes the Manchester derby on April 30 a title decider. I’m sure lot of people who are into sports betting would be following that game very closely.

With a 2 goal lead, United looked certain to win the game comfortably. However, a sudden collapse not only made the last 10 minutes nervous but in the end it frustrated all the United fans around the world.

This is the seventh time United have conceded three or more goals and it perfectly reflects the defensive frailties of our back four. Maybe, it would be harsh to say but Rafael Da Silva and Jonny Evans were dreadful in their roles.

After the game, Sir Alex Ferguson said, “We’ve thrown a game away that we should be coasting and seeing the game out. But we didn’t, so we have given ourselves a difficult task.”

I still believe we will win the title but what really frustrates me is to see a champion team unable to finish off the game and give away soft goals. We’ve done that several times this season – in the Premier League, in Champions League and in the Europa League as well.

Manchester United plays some of the best football and our goals are scored by playing good football. The harder we work for our goals, the easier we make for our opponents by giving away soft goals.

We seriously need a few good solid defenders!

Nemanja Vidic looks almost certain to return to the Manchester United defence for Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton. The Serbian and Red Devils centre-half had been sidelined for the past three weeks with a calf injury.

Vidic was recently seen playing for his country against South Korea in a World Cup warm-up match. He lasted for a good 70 minutes and looked sharp. Even Sir Alex Ferguson had a talk with Serbian coach Raddy Antic about the fitness of Vidic and was given the green light.

It will be a big boost to Manchester United who are missing Rio Ferdinand and find themselves in third place, five points behind leaders Chelsea. I think Evans would partner Vidic in the center, while Wes Brown may be used as cover.

One strange thing that I have noticed this season is that Vidic has started just seven games for United so far. Also, we are seeing a lot of Johny Evans these days, either to fill Rio's place or Vida's place. Is this an indication that Vidic will leave Old Trafford to join Barcelona? I feel, Yes. Therefore, Fergie is trying out Evans in different situations so that he gets ready to become a regular for United.

Tomorrow's game against Everton would see Sir Alex Ferguson in the Manchester United dugout as his punishment would begin from next week. He was handed a two-game touchline ban for his comments about referee Alan Wiley. This will mean that Fergie will have to watch the game against Portsmouth and Tottenham (Carling Cup tie) from the stands.

Meanwhile, Fergie will enjoy watching tomorrow's game from close range as he will get a chance to see Everton's teenage midfielder Jack Rodwell. Everton have valued this teen at £20million and a move to United might be possible during the January transfer window.
