I was reading this interview of Diego Forlan in which he talks about his Anfield heroics during the 2002–03 season.

Forlan was (always) an occasional goal scorer in the United shirt. The fans dubbed him "Diego Forlorn" and "Diego Birtles" because of his 27 game goal drought. But he instantly became a fan favourite when he scored two goals against Liverpool in a 2–1 victory at Anfield.

Just like Dimitar Berbatov has been applauded by (almost all) critics for his amazing performance in the 3-2 victory against the Kops, Forlan too enjoyed such recognition.

Recalling his Anfield heroics, Diego Forlan says,

Gary Neville was the first to come up to me after the game as we celebrated. He looked me in the eyes and said, "They’ll never forget you here after that." Today, I realize, Gary was right.

Forlan scored 17 goals from 95 appearances for Manchester United, before he was transferred to Villareal.

Here are all the 17 goals of Diego Forlan in the Red shirt. Needless to say, the two goals at Anfield were his best.
