Manchester United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he has already began looking at potential signings to strengthen his squad in the summer transfer window.
Players who have been heavily linked to United include Robert Lewandowski, Radamel Falcao, Victor Wanyama, Nemanja Matic, Ezequiel Garay, Kevin Strootman, Jackson Martinez, Thomas Ince and Luka Modric. And of course, a possibility to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo
While admitting that Red Devils can't compete financially with Manchester City and Chelsea, Fergie revealed how United have been following some of their target players since the last 3-4 months. He didn't mention any specific names but we all know how Fergie prefers to buy young players and mould them in United's culture.
Fergie said, "We've been doing a bit of work on that over the last three or four months, targeting who the players are that we feel could enhance us, make us better or help us maintain the level we're at. Hopefully the players we bring into the club in the next year or so will be of the quality we need."
While we have the best attacking lineup, I still believe Fergie should try to bring in Thomas Müller to Manchester United. He's an extremely versatile player and I strongly believe he'll make it very big in England.
Jan Vertonghen may be on his way to Machester United if certain reports are to be believed. The Belgian defender who currently plays for Ajax is the latest name on the shopping list of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Why is he linked to United?
- Jan Vertonghen is an utility player. He can play as a defender and occasionally as a defensive midfielder as well. Thats what he does for his club Ajax and the Belgian national team.
- He's a left-footed player who usually plays as a centre back, he is equally adept at playing anywhere on the left side or in defensive midfield and frequently joins in the attack from his centre back position.
- He's truly tall (6 ft 2 1⁄2 in) and strong in the air
- At 23, he's young and ready to play for United's first team
- He can be a good option to have considering Owen Hargreaves will be released by United and Wes Brown almost certain to leave the Red Devils this summer.
- He can be a long term replacement for Rio Ferdinand and can form a good partnership with the likes of Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling.
What do you think? Will Jan Vertonghen be arriving at Machester United this summer?
