Manchester United has resigned Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a one-year contract. The Swedish striker's spell with the Red Devils was curtailed by a serious knee injury which ended his season prematurely.

Ibra made 46 appearances and scored 28 goals for United during the 2016/17 campaign. After undergoing a successful surgery, the 35-year old underwent his rehabilitation and has now agreed to return to Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho expressed his thoughts by saying,
We are delighted Zlatan is on the road to recovery and we are equally delighted to have his ambition and experience back with us. After his contribution last season he deserves our trust and we will be patient waiting for him to return. I have no doubt that he will be important in the second part of the season.

The big Swede will be wearing #10 shirt vacated by Wayne Rooney, after he allowed Romelu Lukaku to take #9 shirt that he wore last season.

Expressing his pleasure, Ibrahimovic said,
I am back to finish what I started. It was always mine and the club's intention for me to stay. I cannot wait to get back out on that Old Trafford pitch, but I also know that I have to take my time to make sure that I am ready. I have been working hard and will continue to do so to make sure I am in the best possible condition for my return to the pitch.

With the summer transfer window officially closed, several Premier League clubs have improved their squad, but I think Manchester United have done the best business in this window.

Replacing Van Gaal with Jose Mourinho, United brought in a top quality manager making their intentions clear that they are here to dominate the Premier League.

A big club like Manchester United needs big players who can win them games. And Jose has done exactly that with his summer signings. The Portuguese boss made four major signings as he promised, with Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.

A major boost for the Red Devils, that most analysts and pundits aren't talking about is, David de Gea has stayed at Old Trafford. Its definitely a big news and shows our power to not just buy big name players but to retain them as well.

With Manchester derby coming up next, and the squad that we have now, there's definitely a lot for Man United fans to be excited about.

Matteo Darmian has joined Manchester United from Italian side Torino. The established Italy international joins on a four-year contract with the option to extend for a further year.

Reckoned to be one of Europe’s most dynamic full-backs, Matteo Darmian really caught the eye at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. He's 25 and has made 146 appearances and scored 5 league goals for Torino since his debut in 2011; as well as representing Italy 13 times.

After joining Manchester United, Matteo Darmian said:

It is a dream come true to be joining Manchester United. I have loved the time that I have spent at Torino and I would like to thank the club and the fans for everything they have done for me.  I am sure they can understand when the opportunity to join the biggest club in world came along it was something I had to do. To work with Louis van Gaal, a manager that has achieved so much in football is such an exciting prospect.

United boss, Louis van Gaal said:

Matteo is a right-sided full back with the versatility of also being able to play on the left. He is a strong defender and has the ability to go forward in the attacking positions which is a fantastic attribute to have and much needed in the fast rhythm of the Premier League. Matteo will be a great addition to the team. I am delighted to welcome Matteo to the club and look forward to working with him in the coming days.

Welcome to Manchester United, Matteo Darmian!

Memphis Depay has finally completed his dream move to Manchester United by signing a four-year contract, with an option for an extra year.

The Dutchman arrives from PSV Eindhoven and in his first interview after putting on the red shirt, Depay hailed Van Gaal the world's best boss. He said,

This is a dream come true for me; to play for the biggest club in the world and also to have the chance to work with someone who I believe is the best manager in the world, Louis van Gaal. I have great belief in my ability and I work hard to strive to achieve my dreams. I have been at PSV Eindhoven since I was 12 years old and I would like to thank them for everything. It was a great moment when we won the league and I was so happy to be part of that. This is now a new chapter in my life and one that I am looking forward to.

At the same time, United boss, Louis Van Gaal heaped praise on Memphis Depay, saying he has arrived at a huge club. He said,

I know Memphis well from our time working together in the Netherlands national team. He is a young versatile player who has the ability to play in a number of different positions. It will take time for Memphis to get used to the rhythm of the Premier League but I have no doubt that he has the potential to become a great footballer for this club and he is at the right club to continue the good work he has done so far.

Welcome to Manchester United, Mehmphis Depay!

Manchester United's summer signings Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind were officially unveiled at Old Trafford today.

Both the new players took tours of Old Trafford and then posed for pictures. Immediately after, they took part in their first training session at the Aon Training Complex where they were joined by fellow new recruits Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria.

All Man United fans would love to see Radamel Falcao score on his United debut against QPR on Sunday, and start the winning revolution for the Red Devils.

Manchester United have signed Angel Di Maria for a British record fee of £59.7million. The Argentina international midfielder joins on five-year contract.

This news should delight all the United fans and of course, Louis van Gaal who has finally made a marquee signing, with four days before the transfer deadline.

Di Maria was speculated to leave Real Madrid since the World Cup but negotiations between United and Real Madrid took lot of time and finally super agent Jorge Mendes (managing Di Maria) used his skills to reach a figure that both parties agreed to.

After passing his medical and agreeing personal terms, Angel Di Maria said:

I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Spain and there were a lot of clubs interested in me, but United is the only club that I would have left Real Madrid for. Louis van Gaal is a fantastic coach with a proven track record of success and I am impressed by the vision and determination everyone has to get this club back to the top – where it belongs. I now just cannot wait to get started.

Louis van Gaal expressed his delight at the new signing and said:

Angel is a world-class midfielder but most importantly he is a team player. There is no doubting his immense natural talent. He is a tremendously fast and incisive left-footed player who puts fear into the most accomplished defence. His dribbling skills and his ability to take on and beat opponents are a joy to watch. He is an excellent addition to the team.

Angel Di Maria, Welcome to Manchester United.

It's confirmed! Manchester United have signed Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo for a fee of £16million.

Finally, there's some good news for United fans and more importantly, for new manager Louis van Gaal who finally gets his man after a protracted transfer saga. The left-footed Argentine defender will wear the No 5 shirt.

As part of the deal, Nani will be joining Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan with United paying the entirety of the winger's wages during the loan spell.

24-year old Marcos Rojo is United's third summer signing after Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera. After completing his "dream move", Marcos Rojo said:
It is such an honour to say that I now play for Manchester United. The Premier League is the most exciting league in the world and to have the chance to play in it for the world's biggest club is a dream for me. I am young and am very keen to continue to learn the game, so playing for such an experienced technical coach as Louis van Gaal is a fantastic opportunity for me. I have joined United to work hard with my team-mates to win trophies and I know that the manager shares that ambition.

Hopefully, Rojo might be joined by another Argentine at Old Trafford soon, if United manage to sign Angel Di Maria before the transfer deadline.

The Louis van Gaal era is getting exciting with each passing day. After signing midfielder Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao, Manchester United have bought left-back, Luke Shaw from Southampton for £30 million. This move makes Shaw the world’s most expensive teenager.

The young English star has joined United on a four-year contract worth £100,000 a week. Having made his debut for Southampton (in 2012) at the age of 16, Shaw has made 67 appearances for the Saints.

Following his medical, Shaw said, "I am thrilled and excited to be joining Manchester United. I want to continue to progress my career and joining United is the ideal place for me to do that."

Describing Man United as “the biggest club in the world”, Luke Shaw said,

Manchester United is the biggest club in the world and is always going to be up there with the best. I think the main reason I’ve come here is because United want to win trophies and so do I. As a young lad, I aspired to win trophies when I grew up and, coming to Manchester United, that’s the one thing they like to do.

With two promising young players already signed, Louis van Gaal would possibly look for another one or two players to add to his squad.

Whom do you think United should now buy? Let me know in the comments below.

So you already know that Manchester United have signed Athletic Bilbao's highly-rated midfielder Ander Herrera. He becomes the first signing of United's new boss Louis van Gaal who has promised he will go after trophies as soon as he takes charge at Old Trafford.

While we all know Herrera was pursued by ex-manager David Moyes last year and a deal could not be finalized but this year several things have changed and the Red Devils have completed signing one of their prime targets.

As we await Ander Herrera's first appearance in the Red shirt, here are 3 things you (probably) didn't know about this young Spanish player.
  1. Ander Herrera has never made an appearance for Spain's senior team, though he has represented them at Under-21s, Under-22s and Under-23s.
  2. Ander Herrera is good friends with David De Gea and Juan Mata from a long time and now they play for the same team. Wow!
  3. In order to move to Old Trafford, Ander Herrera paid compensation to Athletic Bilbao after they had rejected United's £28.85 million bid.

Let me know your thoughts about Ander Herrera joining Manchester United in the comments below.

Portugal midfielder William Carvalho is attracting attention of several top European clubs, particularly Manchester United. Believe it or not, United scouts have watched him for the eighth time this season!

The 21-year-old mid-fielder is known to be very athletic and versatile and United surely needs lot of versatility in the midfield right now. Also, given his age, he could be a long-term successor in the central midfield position, if Moyes decides to bring him to Old Trafford.

After Juan Mata joined Manchester United, Moyes did mention about arrival of other players. Maybe, Carvalho is one of them, otherwise why would United scouts watch him eight times? Carvalho's contract with Sporting Lisbon is up in 2018 and Real Madrid and Barcelona are also tracking his situation closely. However, his release clause is £37.5m which is way too high for such a young player.

If David Moyes decides to bring William Carvalho to Manchester United in the summer, he will try to negotiate a considerably cheaper deal because United have good contacts in Portugal, plus the two clubs have done business in the past where Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani joined the Red Devils.

Do you think William Carvalho is the man to transform Manchester United's midfield?

Juan Mata has joined Manchester United from Chelsea for a club-record fee of £37.1 million. The 25-year old Spanish international has reportedly signed a four-and-a-half year contract worth £150,000-a-week with United.

Mata is the second signing of new manager David Moyes after he bought Marouane Fellaini in the summer from Everton for of £27.5m. However, Mata is United's most expensive ever player.

On joining Manchester United, Juan Mata said: "I am thrilled to be joining United. I have enjoyed some very happy years at Chelsea but the time has come for a new challenge. United is the perfect place for me and I am excited at the chance I have to be part of the next phase in the club's history."

The top five expensive players to join Manchester United before Mata are:

1. Dimitar Berbatov - £30.75m
2. Rio Ferdinand - £29.3m
3. Juan Sebastián Verón - £28.1m
4. Wayne Rooney - £27m
5. Robin van Persie - £24m

Now the obvious question is whether paying club record fee for Mata will mean he will be a success at Old Trafford?

While it is true that United's expensive buys have endured mixed fortunes but I don't see any specific reason why he can't be a success. He is a proven dynamo in midfield and can play even on wings and can be lethal infront of the goal two. Plus, he's an international and just 25-years old.

Juan Mata has enjoyed two very good seasons with Chelsea. Had he fitted into Mourinho's plans, I'm sure the Special One would not have approved his sale.

Anyways, the fact remains that Juan Mata is now a Manchester United player. Hopefully, Mata will make his debut in Tuesday's Barclays Premier League encounter with Cardiff at Old Trafford.

Let us hope the Spainish star brings his good form and performace to Old Trafford and helps Manchester United to stamp their dominance in the Premier League.

The Brazilian twins, Rafael and Fabio seem to be frustrated at the lack of game time this season and are very likely to leave Manchester United in the summer, says their agent Cassiano Pereira.

The two full-backs joined Manchester United in 2008 but they have not been able to reach their full potential at United. While Rafael did have a great season last term and became an integral part of Sir Alex Ferguson's starting XI, Fabio could never break into the first team. He was either warming the bench or sent out on loan.

With FIFA World Cup 2014 scheduled to start in another five months time, Rafael and Fabio are considering a move away from Old Trafford to resurrect their playing career and get more appearances for the national team.

Their agent confirmed this and said, "At the moment I can say that they will remain in Manchester until the end of the season, but in summer it is very likely that they can go."

It will be interesting to see if Moyes allows his two full-backs to leave at the same time because Patrice Evra is very likely to leave United in summer. If he loses all three full-backs at the same time, whom is he going to recruit to fill in those positions? What do you think?

Earlier this week, Kaka expressed his desire to leave Real Madrid. He also revealed his father is working with the club to ensure he finds a new club soon. Is Manchester United listening?

The Brazil international joined Madrid from AC Milan in 2009 but has found first-team opportunities limited during his time at the Bernabeu. With his former manager Carlo Ancelotti now at Madrid, I'm really surprised Kaka has decided to leave. These two and Andriy Shevchenko were instrumental for making Milan a powerful European team.

Manchester United have been unable to fill in the midfield gap since the last few years. After Scholes retired last season, things began to pick pace but so far David Moyes has not been able to lure any marquee player to Old Trafford.

I genuinely believe, Kaka's addition will make our squad stronger. We tried to sign him last year but Jose Mourinho blocked that transfer. Things have changed since then and maybe Kaka is the missing piece to our midfield puzzle.

Do you think Manchester United will be successful in bringing a former World Player of the Year to Old Trafford? Can Kaka be a Manchester United player?

Mirko Vucinic could be a surprising addition to the Manchester United side this season. The Juventus striker feels threatened of playing regular football following the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

Recently, Juventus boss Antonio Conte said "it is difficult to see a Juve with Vucinic, Tevez and Llorente on the field at the same time". Obviously, it is an indication that the two new star strikers would form a partnership up-front because it suits Juve's style of football. It also means that Vucinic could be given a secondary role, either to play on the wings or warm the bench!

United have been interested in Vucinic since he was at Roma and the interest intensified when Cristiano Ronaldo left United, but somehow the transfer could never happen. With Wayne Rooney looking certain to leave United, David Moyes might tempt the Montenegrin striker with a chance of playing regular football. Surely, we have Chicharito, Welbeck and Zaha along with RVP, but a striker of Vucininc's quality would be a great addition.

If at all Vucinic decides to leave Juventus, United may have to lock horns with AC Milan and Zenit St Petersburg who want to bring the attacker on board.

What possibility do you see of Mirko Vucinic to Manchester United?

Guillermo Varela has joined Manchester United from Club Atlético Peñarol. He becomes the first signing of United's new manager David Moyes.

The highly rated young defender spent time on trial at Old Trafford in the final weeks of last season, and did enough to impress coaches and earn an offer.

The young Uruguayan becomes the 11th United player to hail from South America.

Welcome to Old Trafford - Guillermo Varela!

Manchester United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he has already began looking at potential signings to strengthen his squad in the summer transfer window.

Players who have been heavily linked to United include Robert Lewandowski, Radamel Falcao, Victor Wanyama, Nemanja Matic, Ezequiel Garay, Kevin Strootman, Jackson Martinez, Thomas Ince and Luka Modric. And of course, a possibility to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo

While admitting that Red Devils can't compete financially with Manchester City and Chelsea, Fergie revealed how United have been following some of their target players since the last 3-4 months. He didn't mention any specific names but we all know how Fergie prefers to buy young players and mould them in United's culture.

Fergie said, "We've been doing a bit of work on that over the last three or four months, targeting who the players are that we feel could enhance us, make us better or help us maintain the level we're at. Hopefully the players we bring into the club in the next year or so will be of the quality we need."

While we have the best attacking lineup, I still believe Fergie should try to bring in Thomas Müller to Manchester United. He's an extremely versatile player and I strongly believe he'll make it very big in England.

Wilfried Zaha is now an offical Manchester United player after the Red Devils agreed to sign highly-rated winger from Crystal Palace. The 20-year-old will spend rest of the season with Palace, only to return to Old Trafford in the summer.

Zaha will undergo a medical in Manchester on January 25th and join his United team-mates in July 2013.

Sir Alex did speak briefly about the deal at his Friday morning press-conference, saying
As we like to do, we sign young players with potential. We can also develop players well here. That’s proved to be the case many times. Hopefully the boy will enjoy it coming here when he eventually does join us in the summer.

Meanwhile, Zaha told Palace's official website - "I am delighted to be joining Manchester United and ending the recent speculation."

Wilfried Zaha has got talent and he has taken a good decision of joining United. I'm sure Sir Alex will take him under his wings and develop him as one of the best professional football players for United.

Italian striker Federico Macheda has joined VfB Stuttgart on loan for the remainder of the season. This comes after an agreement was reached between Manchester United and the Bundesliga club.

Macheda had earlier been loaned out to other clubs like Sampdoria and QPR. Playing in the Bundesliga will definitely be a great experience for the lad who has been United's leading goalscorer at Under-21 level this term.

Macheda, who will wear No14 shirt at his new club, said
I have followed the Bundesliga and naturally know about Stuttgart. I am glad that I can now play for the club.
For me, it is about getting to know the team and what I can bring because we have a lot of interesting games in three different competitions in front of us.

Finally... after lot of speculations and rumours, Manchester United have agreed to sign Arsenal striker Robin van Persie on a four-year contract.

After the Dutchman had consistently dodged to sign a new contract with Arsenal, it had become clear he wanted to leave the Emirates. Nothing wrong with his thoughts given he is 29 years old and has won very little during his time as an Arsenal player. With the intention of winning more trophies, he had to leave them at sometime.

With our noisy neighbours having already given up their chase for van Persie, it was left upto United and Juventus to meet Arsenal's valuation for the Dutchman to get him. Good that he choose United.

I'm really happy with this transfer. From a business point of view, this deal may seem unattractive because he's 29 and United are not going to get the money back for him.

But picture this... He's already an established Premier League player. He's a goal scoring machine. And with van Persie's form and fitness, if we can win the league and Champions League, I think it’s money well spent.

Robin van Persie... Welcome to Manchester United.

By now all Manchester United fans would have known that we've agreed to sell Mame Biram Diouf to Hannover 96. The question, I'm pondering over is Why?

Diouf was signed from Molde FK in July 2009, and after a 30-month stay in English football, he's moving to Germany. I find his transfer really weird!

During all this time, he has played lot of football, he has gained valuable experience and made nine senior appearances for Manchester United, scoring one goal. He has good pace, good composure, plus he's young. So why was he sold?

Diouf becomes the third player to be sold by Manchester United during this January transfer window following the departures of Darron Gibson to Everton and Danny Drinkwater to Leicester City.

I wonder the intentions of Sir Alex Ferguson in the transfer business. In the last 2-3 years, we've bought lot of young players like Diouf, Chicharito, Bebe, Obertan and now 3 of these 4 are gone!

I wonder whether Sir Alex is losing his eye for talent or are our scouts crazy to suggest young players who look promising but fail to make it to the first team! What's wrong?

With Mame Diouf joining German side Hannover 96, I can only hope Chicharito is not going to be the next player to be sold in summer. It looks very unlikely, but with Welbeck and Rooney forming a formidable pair up-front and Chicharito not hitting the form like last year, he may well be shown the exit door at Old Trafford.
