Manchester United's most underrated players and central midfielder Michael Carrick has been troubled with an Achilles injury which will keep him out till the end of 2013. This is a great chance for young Tom Cleverley to step up and fulfill his promising potential.
Everyone knows that United’s midfield is weak, particularly when compared to those of other top teams. Usually, Carrick performs his role in the midfield seamlessly. Not only does he protect the back four but he also feeds the strikers with some amazing and precise passes.
With some important fixtures coming up during December, United do not have a single player who can control the midfield with ease. Marouane Fellaini is yet to settle, Phil Jones is doubtful, Anderson is not comfortable in holding the midfield. The only one remaining is Tom Cleverley, who arguably can be United’s most classy central midfielder in Carrick’s absence.
Maybe, we might see Moyes employing Giggs in the center but whether he'll play full 90 minutes of each game is still a dount. Obviously, Cleverley will be getting his chances and he must step up and impress, not just for his team but also for the sake of his own future.
