Rio Ferdinand is perhaps playing his last season in a Manchester United shirt!
Ever since David Moyes has taken charge at Old Trafford, he has been looking to freshen things up by rebuilding the side and giving more opportunities to young players who bring in energy and stamina.
There's no doubt Ferdinand is getting caught up by his age. Come summer, he may be out of Old Trafford. Rio's current one-year deal with United expires in June and it is very unlikely that Moyes would want to keep him longer since he keeps getting injured often and doesn't command a strong presence in United's back four as he used to in the past.
During Ferdinand's lay-off, Moyes has been increasingly turning to Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. I strongly believe, Moyes would add another defender next summer, thus, Ferdinand’s prospects of earning a new deal appear to be bleak.
