Manchester United's record signing Dimitar Berbatov is set for an exit from Old Trafford this summer. There has been lot of speculation about his future but now its confirmed that he's leaving.
Sir Alex made it clear in his comments that he cannot guarantee regular first-team football to Berbatov at this point of time. Also, he really hasn't lived up to the expectations we all had from him when he was signed from Spurs.
Sir Alex said,
At the moment, he remains at United. But I'd listen to what he says. I think he's concerned he isn't getting enough first-team football. It's difficult for me to guarantee that. At 31, you can understand he wants that. It may lead to him looking elsewhere.
Berbatov's contract with United expires this summer and he won't be allowed to go as a free agent for sure since United paid more than £30 mn for his services. Most probably, they'll ask him to sign a one-year contract and then sell him to a club. His favorite destinations for a new club could be France or Turkey - but again nothing is finalized yet.
One thing is for sure, come summer and it would be game over for Dimitar Berbatov.
