Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs turns 40 today. On March 2, 1991 Giggs made his league debut (as a substitute) for the Red Devils against Everton at Old Trafford. After breaking into the first team at a young age of 17, he has never looked back since.
Giggs made his full Manchester United debut in the Manchester derby on May 4, 1991. It was a special game as Giggs was credited with his first ever goal during the 1-0 win against the noisy neighbours. Soon, he became a central figure in Fergie's Fledglings of the 90s.
While he has scored over a hundred goals for Manchester United, some of which have been absolutely magnificent and incredible. However, the greatest, and possibly most important goal of Giggs' career came in one of the best FA Cup ties of all time in the 1998-1999 season against bitter rivals Arsenal.
His amazing run past the entire Gunners defence before scoring in extra-time was one of the best moments of his professional footballing career. His goal not only gave United victory that night but it helped them progress to the final which they won and to complete a historic treble that season.
Giggs remains the most decorated player in English football history. He has won 13 Premier League winner's medals, 4 FA Cup winner's medals, 3 League Cup winner's medals and 2 Champions League winner's medals. In addition to that he has won several honours within football.
Here's wishing Ryan Giggs a very Happy Birthday.
